Nosy Komba

Nosy Komba, formerly Nosy Ambariovato translating as “the island surrounded by rocks”, is a secluded escape just off Nosy Be. Its rugged granite and slate formations, remnants of a volcanic past, serve as a natural barrier against the shifting tides. The island is best known for its population of habituated black lemurs, often seen moving through the trees or curiously observing visitors. With its quiet beaches, lush forest, and elevated viewpoints offering sweeping sea views, Nosy Komba has a distinct, unspoilt character. It is a place to explore at an unhurried pace, where nature takes precedence and time feels less pressing.

Wander through the lively streets where fresh fish, mountain-grown produce, and Malagasy crafts fill the stalls. In this place seemingly untouched by time, where children play freely, and lemurs make unexpected appearances, you will find a community defined by warmth, tradition, and quiet charm.
